As I reflect on my honour’s year, I am struck by the immense growth and learning that has taken place. Despite the challenges that have come my way, I have gained invaluable knowledge and skills in research, scientific writing, and lab techniques.

This year has not been without its difficulties. The loss of a loved one has been a heavy burden to carry, and the demanding workload of honours has often left me exhausted.  However, my passion for my research project has been a constant source of motivation and inspiration. Investigating the mutations associated with broad neutralizing antibodies in HIV reservoirs has been a fascinating journey, and I have been captivated by the complexities of the virus.

The countless hours spent in the lab, pouring over data, and delving into the intricacies of HIV have been worth every moment of sleep deprivation and fatigue. I have developed a profound appreciation for the virus’s cunning and resilience, and I am humbled by the realization of how much remains to be discovered.

Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate to have had the guidance and support of my supervisors, who have been instrumental in my growth and success. Their kindness, expertise, and encouragement have meant the world to me.

As I look back on this honour’s year, I know that my dad would be incredibly proud of me and all that I have achieved. His memory has driven me to push through the tough times, and I hope to make him proud with the completion of my project.

In the end, this honours year has been a transformative experience that has shaped me into a more resilient, determined, and passionate individual. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had and excited for the future, knowing that I have laid a strong foundation for my future endeavours.
