What an adventure it has been!

I never anticipated having the experience I had with honours. Honestly, I only applied to the University of Cape Town (UCT) to make sure I would have a variety of possibilities for post-graduate studies. I was still in disbelief when I received the admission letter because I had not anticipated being accepted to UCT. I can still picture how I was sitting in my room, wondering how I would manage having to move to a different province for the first time in my life. However, it appears that God had different intentions for me.

I had to face the wild reality of leaving home to start a fresh life and just like that my honours journey started. From incredibly motivating instructors to meeting demanding deadlines for practical reports, to writing exams, and now to my project, I would say that my experience with honours has been simultaneously tough and exhilarating. I got to know my classmates, who I am incredibly grateful for having supported me all the way from the start. With them, there’s never a dull moment because we always manage to crack a joke. They are all intelligent people, and I have picked up some knowledge from each of them.

As the year draws to a close, my project has also been truly great. Despite mishaps in the lab and unplanned events, I feel like I have learned a ton, and I will always be thankful a lot to God for providing me with this chance. I’m excited to continue developing personally and learning more from my superiors. This is not an easy road; it calls for self-motivation, persistence, and simple faith in the process. I’m excited to see what the next few months hold for me.
