Looking back on this year I can’t believe that in what feels like such a short space of time my understanding of science and particularly my field of infectious disease and immunology has changed so much. Before modules started my understanding of the immune system was so fuzzy it’s a wonder, I could comprehend talk of diseases at all, some of this learning process was a steep uphill but coming over each curve was rewarding, and yet there has always been a hill behind it. Meeting new peers, lectures, module assessments and exams all challenging in their own right and that was before my research project really got going. And yet while research has been challenging the thrill of obtaining your own data and reaching new conclusions is tangible. So although honours is not a task for the fainthearted I am so grateful I get to do it.
